Firstly WHY BOOK ME? WHY NOT TAKE THE PHOTOGRAPH YOURSELF?
Todays digital camera's have certainly advanced incredibly over the last few years and it is possible to get some amazing shots with the cheapest of camera's.
Being a professional I spend far too much!! (my wife says) on keeping up to date with the very latest equipment which ensures the sharpest quality pictures.
The most important part of any photographers kit are their lenses and these can cost many thousands of pounds but the difference they make is worth every penny but this level of expense is out of reach for most amatuer photographers.
I have taken many thousands of photographs and worked with some great photographers which has all taught me how to best use natural light in a photograph which makes the difference between a good shot and one that send tingles down your spine.
I have recently been awarded the great honour of being runner up in this years Kennel Club of Great Britain Dog Photographer of The Year, Working Dog section, of which I am very proud to have my photographic skills recognised by some of the best dog photographers in the country.
Professional photographers like myself make a living from taking photographs so it is vital that I maximise each session and get the very best photographs to ensure that YOU are happy and that is the most important thing to me.
ABOUT THE SESSION
1. PRE- QUALIFICATION
When you initially contact me I will find out exactly the type of photographs you are trying to achieve. This unfortunately is something a lot of my competitors do not do which is a big mistake.
Its your session and it will be your photographs hanging on your wall so its vital they are exactly what you want. The pre-qualification is probably the most important part of any session.
2. LOCATION
We arrange a time and location to suit you.I have a number of locations we can use to take photographs of your dog or we can go to a location of your choice or indeed we can conduct the session at your home, it really is up to you.
3.WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
If your pet has a favourite toy then it is advisable to bring that along as action shots can make stunning photographs.I do have a selection of props that I always bring along to a session.
4.HOW LONG DOES THE SESSION LAST?
A session usually lasts an hour but I am happy to continue until I feel happy that I have achieved the photographs I need from the session.
Initially I will win over the confidence of your pet before I introduce the camera. Again, a number of photographers I have witnessed just pull out the camera and start snapping straight away which will never get the best results.
Once I feel condident that your dog has accepted me and with your close assistance I will then start to take some photographs, constantly monitoring the body language of your pet to ensure that they are comfortable and not getting bored or tired.
My number one priority is the welfare of your dog and if neccessary I will abandon a session for another day if for whatever reason your pet is not happy.I have never had to do this but animals have off days too not just humans.
5. MY DOG IS NOT WELL BEHAVED
No problem,I have been around animals all my life and as the proud owner of a Mad as a Hatter Springer Spaniel who never sits and will disappear into the bushes at the faintest whiff of something?.I am very well experienced believe me.
In fact a photograph I took of him running at full belt leaping over fallen logs one frosty winters morning won me runner up in This years Dog Photographer of The Year competition. So don't worry, action shots can make some of the best photographs. They are natural and not staged which can be far more appealing.
The secret of getting a good action photograph is to be in the right place at the the right time and so with your assistance I can get the best shots of the liveliest of pets and can assure you it will be great fun and your dog won't even be aware of whats happening.
6.WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SESSION?
I go away with the images and the edit them using the very latest editing software. I will then make the photographs available to you to select the images that you wish to have printed.
It is now becoming very popular amongst my clients to request a copy of all of the images taken in the session on a CD Rom and so I have now included this option in my Palatinum Package and will enable you to keep the photographs on your computer or print off as many copies as you wish.
It is also possible to have your pictures printed on a Gallery Wrap Around wall canvas which looks very impressive in any home and into printed books ideal to show friends and family.
You can also have your images printed on mugs, key rings, mouse mats etc.
